Ravelry is awesome. I actually found a group of women that shoot AND knit. How awesome is that?
I visited Nana again tonight. She tried to get up and go into the wheelchair but it hurt too much so they had her stop. They’ve since started her on some Vikes and she is “feeling no pain”. She is so cute. Mom has been bringing in all the hats I’ve made and she has been wearing a different one every day. All the nurses love her. And she is flirting with all the doctors, “I’m old and I can get away with that”. Gotta love her.
I ended up taking Friday off from work. Nana’s coming home that day, and I’m worried about Stella. She loves Nana and always wants to be around her. If Nana can’t get a transport down to the house then mom will drive her over and she’ll need some help getting into the house and into the bed. Stella will be in the way, so one of us will be able to keep her away from Nana till she gets situated. Once that happens, I’ll have to go to her apartment and get her stuff and her mail and her fish and clean out her fridge a bit. I’ll do the major overhaul Saturday.
I’m hoping to at least finish the heel Friday and the rest of the sock during the weekend. After that, it’s the Ginny Socks with the Sunshine Yarns in Lagoon. I’m psyched to do something other than regular ol’ stockinette for the socks. I think I’m definitely going to do these on #2’s. I’d even like #1’s, but I don’t think I have any. I’ll have to check RAVELRY
Ravelry is addicting. A total time-stealer. I went on as soon as I came home from the hospital. No knitting was done. I’m hoping as soon as nana comes home, (who is doing very well) I’ll be able to do more. In the meantime, I’m still dragging my knitting to the hospital and not working on it. Now, I’m just getting a little anxious because no long term plan has been made about Nana, other than she is coming to stay. First, we will have to clean the house and de-clutter it – especially around the doorways. When we are going to get her stuff from her house – let alone where are we going to put it. Is the dog going to be upset about the wheelchair? Will Nana trip over Stella? We’ll have to buy more pillows so she can sit up in bed. When will her therapy come? Is she going to be bored?
Nana stayed up late watching the winning game Sunday night. She loves the Red Sox, calls Mike Lowell her boyfriend. She was so hyped she didn’t go to sleep till 230 in the morning that night. Monday she woke and decided to do her neighbor’s laundry. She ended up falling asleep in the chair in the laundry facility. She woke up and went to get up to switch loads in the dryer. Apparently when she got up, she thought her shoe fell off, and when she put her foot down, it was her ankle and it broke. No one was around, so she had to crawl on her hands and knees to the office to tell them she broke her leg.
So I ended up at the ER last night till late. Good news is that Nana’s injury could have been WICKED worse. Also, I didn’t puke or get hives when I was in the hospital – my normal knee-jerk reaction to crises. And I get to make sock toes for her casted toe. Bad news, Nana’s going to be in hospital for a couple of days then in a wheelchair at my house till probably Christmas. She is not going to be happy. She’s too independent.
Well at least I’ll be getting alot of knitting done this week. Nana goes in for surgery today at 1/130. Hopefully she won’t be groggy when we go to see her after work.

Bad News: November is bad for my family
I got THE CALL today. Nana broke her ankle and is in the hospital. Not a good situation, but definitely could have been worse. But I got the call on my way home from work. Stopped by and grabbed my knitting and my mom and went to the ER. Didn’t get home till 11. Will tell full story tomorrow.
