A lot has happened in the week(s) I’ve been away.  Since I’m the only one who reads this I’ll do a quick sum up for posterity:

SNOW PART 2:Ugh.  I think this was the bad storm that I ended up getting stuck in 3 hours of traffic to go 12 miles home.  we should have left work earlier, but they didn’t release us till it was too late.  Highland ave was a nightmare.

SNOW PART 3:Not bad.  But enough to make me angry.  Roads were slushy – so was the driveway.  We didn’t even get plowed.

Christmas Shopping:I sucked at this and finally squeaked it out at the last minute.  I took Mom to Bass Pro and she had a ball.  I love it there.  As for knitting, I finally got the blue mittens done.  Lisa’s going to be getting those.  Abby and I aren’t exchanging gifts.  I didn’t think Lisa and I were either – but she said she has a present for me.  Karen got the pink/purple mittens and a white crochet scarf.  I whipped up a simple cable hat with some pretty yarn I got at AC Moore for nana – she cried when she opened it and didn’t take it off till it was time for bed.  I ended up making the quant for a girl at work.  It looked gorgeous with her curly hair.

Christmas:Chris came.  He had saved a faucet from the hotel demo and ended up buying us a vanity too, so we have a new bathroom sink that doesn’t leak!  He gave everyone 50 bucks to walmart.  Karen and I are going to use them to get a tent and a cooler.  We’re going camping.  I can’t wait.  We’re both so excited.

Knitting:Finished the green socks.  I’m debating on giving these to lisa.  She’s a really good friend so I think I will.  Besides, I’m making another pair for me.  And I’m doing really well.  I think I finally have a hold on this crochet cast on.  I’m also back to the clapotis.  I’m hoping to have it done by my birthday.  Yeah, I know – just in time for her to not need it.

Spinning:Karen got me “The Big Book of Yarn” for Christmas.  It’s so awesome.  I’ve got about 75 dollars saved toward my new ladybug.  I should be able to get it for my birthday.  I’m hoping to not have to use my credit card at all.  I’m predrafting tonight.  I hate drafting, but I have to for this ball of fiber that I’m using.  I want to get it spun and plied and then bring it with me to the farm this weekend to pay for January’s rent of the wheel.  And buy more fiber of course.

Avon:I’m not doing avon anymore.  I hate it and never do it since I hate it so much.  I’ll wait for stuff to come in that’s on backorder – but after that, nothing.

I’ll post some FOs and WIPs later.  They’re over at Ravelry if you want to see them.  I’m fiberjewel.

No, I’m just thinking.  I’ve got me a plan.  When my sister and I were little, my mother used to dress us up the same (no surprise).  We always got new pajamas just for Christmas on Christmas Eve.  BUT, we weren’t allowed to sleep in them.  My mom would give them to us, then take them back and keep them in her room.  When Karen and I awoke in the morning, before we were allowed downstairs, we had to go and wake Mom up, then she would comb our hair and we would change into the new pajamas and then go downstairs where dad would be waiting for us.

Karen and I have been trying to get matching pajamas as a joke now that we are older.  The only thing is that she is a size 12/14 and I’m a 22/24.  Yup, ten sizes in between us.  Think we could find a pair of pajama pants that match and in those sizes.  Nope.  So, that got me thinking.  What if we wore matching hats?  Then I was thinking about what hats we would wear, and I had a vision.  Red pixie earflap hats with white pompoms on the top.  Perfect.  Then I had another though.  What if I made them for everyone in the family in secret?  Then stuck them in their stocking.  Stockings are always hard, since we are all on a budget and we even put a $20 cap on the presents this year.  I figured we would all have at least something in our stockings.  My sister is the only one who knows about my secret plan (the only one who knows about this blog too) so it will be safe to post pictures.  I’m planning on using an old lionbrand pattern that I have for a crocheted pixie hat with some red heart yarn held double or triple depending on the gauge.
